Transition to Work Program

Mylife’s TTW post school program has been designed to offer young adults a stepping stone from school to employment, regardless of the barrier faced. The program runs for two years with a   typical requirement of 18 hours per week (three days).

With the ultimate goal being sustained employment, Mylife programs deliver a flexible, person-centered approach with full consultation with participants and their families. Mylife continues to utilize its ever-growing support from the local community consisting of businesses,  training organizations and voluntary organizations to ensure our participants have the best exposure in the local labor market.

Mylife programs is also licensed to offer  Certificate I in Employability Skills (Becoming a Worker). This may also see a participant eligible to receive a “Pension Education Supplement” through  Centrelink.

Mylife Program prides itself on delivering quality service in a fun environment which nurtures learning.

Positive Approach

With input from all relevant parties, a Individual Service Plan (ISP) will be done to determine a  participants goals, ambitions, expectations and to ensure a individual, person-centred approach is delivered.

Initially, participants will undergo basic  assessments to determine strengths, barriers to employment, goals, areas for improvement and an understanding of basic employability skills being:

· Communication

· Teamwork

· Problem Solving

· Self Management

· Planning and Organising

· Technology

· Learning

· Initiative and Enterprise

Through a range of both hands on and interactive activities, Mylife’s TTW program aims to address barriers to employment which may be preventing a participant from successfully entering the workforce.

Mylife’s delivery of a Certificate I in  Employability Skills (Becoming a Worker) is a great way of identifying and improving ones employability. Modules such as Preparing to Work, Vocational Awareness and Work Ethic are covered with a focus being on building motivation and confidence in both a social and work environment.

Positive Outcome

While continuing to build employability skills previously identified, industry specific training and “work tasters” are utilised to improve the chances of gaining work in an industry previously  identified.

Industry specific training through external training organisation (such as Certificate I, II, III and IV) is supported at Mylife programs by providing dedicated rooms with computer/internet access to assist with study by correspondence.

Voluntary work placement’s and industry “work tasters” are sourced and utilised to promote and instil relevant work skills and work ethic to participants. Mylife programs can also utilise its extensive work placement opportunities through Caringa’s internal supported employment options.

Transition to Work through Mylife programs recognises the importance of a work/life balance. Participants are encouraged to pursue their passions and hobbies to promote a healthy work/life balance including sport and leisure activities, accessing the Arts, Music, Technology and literature.
